SKYBOX SECURITY AND VERISIGN ANNOUNCE STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP FOCUSED ON DELIVERING UNIQUE SECURITY RISK PROFILING SERVICE
Partnership Creates Industry's First Comprehensive Security Risk Profiling Service Powered by Skybox Virtual Modeling and Simulation Technology
MOUNTAIN VIEW AND SAN JOSE, CA - March 21, 2006 - Skybox® Security, Inc., the leader in Security Risk Management (SRM), and VeriSign, Inc., the leading provider of intelligent infrastructure services for the Internet and telecommunications networks, today announced a strategic partnership to deliver the industry's first comprehensive security risk profiling service. This unique service is designed to help enterprises identify, visualize and quantify information security risks in order to make better operational and financial decisions. VeriSign is the first managed security services provider (MSSP) delivering the Skybox View™ product as a service to enterprises (see "VeriSign Introduces Security Risk Profiling Service").
The VeriSign® Security Risk Profiling Service leverages capabilities from VeriSign® Managed Security Services, VeriSign® Global Security Consulting and VeriSign® iDefense Security Intelligence Services and combines it with industry-leading modeling and simulation technology from Skybox Security. This partnership validates the SRM market need and confirms Skybox's market and technology leadership.
With the VeriSign Security Risk Profiling Service, global organizations - for the first time - will have a comprehensive and risk-based approach to Security Risk Management delivered through a services-model in order to:
- Quantify asset value to the business
- Identify likely attack sources and access paths
- Visualize business-impact view of threats and vulnerabilities
- Address compliance requirements for internal or external regulations
"Today's IT infrastructure risk and threat assessment process is uncertain, requiring security professionals to look for more effective means to understand and quantify potential risks to their networks," said Chris Babel, vice president of Managed Security Services for VeriSign. "Skybox View's unique virtual modeling and simulation capability, when delivered as a service through VeriSign, will allow enterprises to employ a proactive security risk assessment process that quantifies and links threats to their potential business impacts in real-time."
Over the past 2 years, IT Security Risk Management (IT SRM) has emerged as the complete process of understanding threats, quantifying risk, prioritizing vulnerabilities, auditing security controls and reducing unnecessary patches through a continuously refreshed security risk profile. According to IDC estimates, the IT SRM market is expected to grow from $328 million in 2005 to $500 million in 2007.
"Offering our Security Risk Management software as part of a comprehensive managed service through a leading MSSP is a natural evolution of our go-to-market strategy. We chose VeriSign as our first strategic partner because a significant number of organizations want our software as part of a comprehensive MSSP offering. VeriSign's extensive global security consulting and device management expertise, as well as their proven service delivery model, expands our market reach towards the goal of establishing SRM as a best practice," said David Batista, president and chief executive officer for Skybox Security.
