SKYBOX SECURITY CUSTOMER CHRISTOFER HOFF HONORED WITH INFORMATION SECURITY MAGAZINE'S "SECURITY 7" AWARD FOR FINANCIAL SERVICES SECTOR
SAN JOSE, CA - Oct 17, 2005 - Skybox® Security, Inc., the leader in Security Risk Management (SRM), today announced that Christofer Hoff has been named the winner of Information Security Magazine's "Security 7" award for the financial services sector. Christofer Hoff is Chief Information Security Officer and Director of Enterprise Security Services for WesCorp Credit Union which holds more than $25 billion in assets. WesCorp is a Skybox customer and has deployed Skybox View to automate its risk assessment and mitigation planning processes as well as proactively reduce risk and IT workload.
Hoff is recognized by Information Security for his commitment and contributions to the information security community, including best practices in risk management leveraging sophisticated and leading-edge security products such as Skybox View. During his tenure at WesCorp, he has integrated security risk management as part of the credit union's IT department and made security an integral component of their IT network resulting in a safer, more risk-resilient network.
"Before deploying a technology Hoff first assesses its 'RROI,' which for some stands for 'risk-based return on investment' and others 'risk reduction return on investment.' With Chris Hoff at the helm, security at WesCorp is treated as something that can add business value, rather than a strict policing function," said Kelley Damore, editor in chief for Informaiton Security Magazine.
Hoff is responsible for an annual IT budget of approximately $9.2 million protecting 47 terabytes of personal check images and $1.7 trillion in automatic clearing-house and wire transfers per year. Over the past eleven years Hoff has amassed a string of certifications including CISSP, CISA, CISM and IAM, and is active in (ISC)2, I SACA, ISSA and other security associations.
"Skybox is honored to work with Chris Hoff and WesCorp in transforming security into a measurable business enabler. Chris is widely respected for his best practices and willingness to share them with the IT security community, as well as his insight into the application of new technologies. We applaud Information Security magazine team for recognizing his extensive contributions," said David Batista, president and CEO of Skybox Security.
Information Security magazine, SearchSecurity.com and the Information Security Decisions annual conference have created these awards to recognize the achievements of the world's top security professionals in seven vertical industries. Hoff joins an elite group of winners who have helped shape information security technologies, policies and practices, including managers from: AT&T, Chevron, McKesson, United States Postal Service, University of Washington Center for Information Assurance and Cybersecurity and Volkswagen, AG. The Security 7 will be honored at a special luncheon on October 19th, 2005 at the Information Security Decisions conference in New York City. Each winner is profiled in the October issue of Information Security and on the magazine's Web site.
